Zafiro Cruise

The Zafiro Experience: 4-Day Low Water Season

Venture deep into the Peruvian Amazon on a river cruise that navigates the Marañón, Ucayali, and Amazon Rivers. This four-day expedition offers thrilling wildlife encounters, immersive cultural experiences, and breathtaking landscapes. From night safaris in Yacapana to pink dolphin sightings in Yucuruchi, each day reveals the wonders of the rainforest. Guided by expert naturalists, you’ll connect with local communities, explore blackwater tributaries, and witness Amazonian sunsets that will stay with you forever.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Iquitos to the port of Nauta, where you’ll board your Amazon river cruise. After settling into your suite, enjoy a welcome cocktail crafted with regional fruits and pisco. Naturalist guides will introduce you to the itinerary, explaining the geography and biodiversity of the Amazon Basin. In the evening, embark on a skiff excursion to Yacapana, an area rich in wildlife. As night falls, the jungle awakens—watch for caimans, frogs, and tarantulas before returning to the ship for a Peruvian-Amazonian dinner.

Start your day with a peaceful sunrise cruise along the Amazon River, witnessing riverside communities as they greet the day. After breakfast onboard, venture into the Yarapa River, a blackwater tributary teeming with birdlife and aquatic species. Return to the ship for lunch and an engaging cultural talk led by your guides. In the afternoon, visit the community of Paranapura to learn about local traditions and daily life. As night falls, enjoy another jungle night safari followed by dinner accompanied by live regional and international music.

Before breakfast, explore more of the Yarapa River by skiff, spotting unique Amazonian creatures. Later, set out on a guided hike through the Yucuruchi area within the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This protected area offers opportunities to see diverse wildlife and learn about native plants. After lunch and a short rest on board, cruise the Amazon River once more in search of the elusive pink river dolphins. Witness a brilliant sunset over the river, then return for a festive final evening with live music, a farewell gathering, and your last dinner on the ship.

Following breakfast, disembark in Nauta and travel back toward Iquitos. Along the way, stop at the Amazon Forever Bio Park, where rescued manatees and other animals are rehabilitated and prepared for release back into the wild. Learn about this vital conservation work and reflect on your own Amazonian experience before continuing to the airport for your onward journey.
