La Perla is a vessel designed with the comfort of travelers in mind, offering an unparalleled journey into the heart of the Amazon rainforest. It grants access to untouched, magical locations, thanks to its shallow draft, enabling navigation through areas that many other boats cannot reach.
To further enhance the experience, auxiliary boats equipped with outboard motors provide the perfect means to explore the Amazon’s most remote corners. These smaller boats allow you to venture into hidden lagoons, narrow canals, winding streams, and flooded forests, ensuring an intimate connection with the region’s natural wonders.
Upon arriving at the airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to the DoubleTree by Hilton Iquitos hotel for an orientation session on your upcoming adventure. From there, you’ll travel in a private vehicle to Nauta, the historic river port where you will board La Perla and begin your journey.
At dawn, set off on a boat expedition to the Yanayacu de Yacapana Communal Reserve. Glide silently along the waterways to observe vibrant Amazonian birds such as parrots and macaws, as well as sloths, iguanas, monkeys, and the iconic pink and red river dolphins. This serene setting offers a breathtaking display of color and life, deep in the heart of the rainforest.
Early morning is the perfect time to connect with the rainforest. Begin your day with a pre-breakfast boat excursion to Marayali, a renowned birdwatching haven home to numerous endangered species. After enjoying a buffet breakfast on board, embark on another exploration, this time in the Pahuachiro area, a remarkable spot to experience the Amazon’s rich biodiversity.
After a final buffet breakfast aboard La Perla, disembark in Nauta and head toward Iquitos. Along the way, visit the Amazon Rescue Center (CREA), where biologists and volunteers care for rescued animals, including manatees threatened by illegal trafficking and habitat loss. Learn about the conservation efforts and even interact with these friendly aquatic mammals. Your journey concludes with a transfer to Iquitos.
