Best location and hotel to stay in Manaus before to join a jungle adventure

Manaus city is a great starting point to explore the Brazilian Amazon rainforest on a riverboat cruise. The city is the Capital of Amazonia and has plenty of things to explore before going to the jungle. Also the city can easily be explored in a day or two.

Staying in an incredible hotel with the right location in Manaus can avoid a lot of time traveling in traffic, give the visitor great access to the attractions and make the tour of the Amazon that much more enjoyable.

The best location in Manaus for tourists is the historic center. But there are also hotels in Adrianopolis neighborhoods (which have restaurants and the best mall of the city, Manauara) and Vieiralves (it has also a hub of restaurants, pubs and two malls).

In this article I will show you the city’s best hotels from luxury resorts with pools and spas, to boutique abodes with stunning views of Manaus.

If you are planning to cruise on the Amazon river and explore wildlife and native tribes, Manaus is your starting point in Brazil. Voyagers travel offers several riverboat cruises that explore the main river and it’s tributaries, here is our list of Amazon cruise options:

Where to stay in Manaus Historic Centre

There are three good hotels that put the visitor close to all the attractions of the Center. The tourist will be a few steps away from the Teatro Amazonas and can walk to the central museums and, if you don’t mind a walk of less than 15 minutes, to the Adolpho Lisbon Market. Also it is possible to find great restaurants and tourism agencies. In my opinion, this is the best option to stay in Manaus.

Where to stay in Ponta Negra Area

Located 15km from the historic center of Manaus, Ponta Negra is the main beach of the city. Despite being close to the forest, in recent decades it has become a residential neighborhood surrounded by luxurious condos.

The waterfront gained residential skyscrapers, while in other parts of the neighborhood, luxurious horizontal condominiums isolated by walls sprang up. The riverside has been turned into a park and beach, which sand the whole year, and not just at low tide.

For who are come over to Manaus on holiday, the good point of staying at Ponta Negra is the proximity to attractions such as the Museu do Seringal Vila Paraíso, Praia da Lua and Praia Dourada.

The historic center, however, is a little bit far. But there is a hub of bars and restaurants close by, not on the Ponta Negra waterfront, but on Tourism Avenue, which leads to the Manaus airport. Ponta Negra Shopping mall is only 5km from the beach.

In my opinion, it is a better location to live than to stay in Manaus.
