Start the day at Surquillo’s local market and select the essential ingredients used to prepare our most traditional dishes. Later, transfer to “El Bolivariano” restaurant in “Pueblo Libre” District to enjoy a demonstration of how Ceviche and Pisco Sour is really made. Finally enjoy a buffet lunch and taste the most traditional dishes & desserts that Peru offers.

Transfer from your hotel to the airport to board flight to Arequipa. On arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Arequipa lies on the edge of the Altiplano, 2380m above sea. level and framed by the volcanoes Misti, Pikchu Pikchu and Chachani. It is known as “La Ciudad Blanca” (White City), as many of its buildings are made of sillar, a white volcanic s tone. The historic center of Arequipa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its historic heritage, natural scenery and cultural sites, make the city a popular destination.

Today we explore the beautiful Arequipa, known locally as “The White City” due to its glistening white buildings built from volcanic rock. We visit several sites throughout the city including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Santa Catalina Monastery, the Main Square, the Complex of San Francisco and the Arequipa Cathedral, one of the biggest in South America. We then take time to wander through the cobblestone streets of the Spanish Colonial district, Yanahuara, before heading to the viewpoint to take in the magnificent views of the city and its three stunning volcanoes: Misti, Chachani and Pikchu Pikchu.

This morning we leave Arequipa with direction to Chivay. We will across the snow-capped Misti, Chachani and the Ampato Volcanoes before arriving to the Colca Valley, the entrance to the famous Colca Canyon, thought to be twice as deep as the Grand Canyon and home to a large population of Andean Condors.

Continuing our journey into the Andes, we will pass the villages of Torja, Chucura, Patapampa, with their Colonial churches and Inca terracing. We will also pass by some great viewpoints in the valley such as Corporaque Viewpoint. In the afternoon, we will return to the sleepy village of Chivay where you may choose to enjoy La Calera thermo-medicinal baths or just relax at your hotel.

Following breakfast, we head to the ‘Cruz del Condor’, a spot considered to be the best viewpoint to watch the majestically Condors ascending from the valley on the early-morning thermals. After this amazing spectacle, we continue our journey passing through many villages and taking in the beautiful Andean scenery and fascinating pre-Inca, Inca and Colonial history of the area.

This afternoon, transfer to the bus station for your outward ride from Colca towards magical Lake Titicaca on a 6-hour ride with opportunities to see vicuñas and possibly flamingos along the way. In the evening we reach Puno, situated on the shores of the famous Lake Titicaca. Arrival at Puno and transfer to your selected hotel.

Puno lies on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. It is the largest city in the Southern Altiplano and an important agricultural and livestock (llamas and alpaca) region. It sits at an altitude of over 3,800 meters and is a picturesque hillside city and a melting pot of the Aymara and Quechua culture.

Depart on the speedboat “Titicaca Express”, fully equipped and with on board service. Arrive to a secluded section of Taquile Island, Explore the less touristy and scenic area of Taquile Island and enjoy a pristine sandy beach. Hike through a pre-Inca trail with spectacular landscapes of the island, visiting families of weavers to learn about their textile art & symbolism. Then, arrive to the community of Santa Maria – Llachon, a very scenic off the beaten track destination. We are welcomed by a small community and quickly introduced to an intensive cross-cultural experience, observe their traditions and participate in an ancient ceremony to learn about their magical world. Then experience the preparation of “Pachamanca” a traditional way of cooking meat, fish and potatoes using underground ovens – this is one of the main dishes of Peruvian cuisine. Enjoy these delicacies in a small, but very scenic, restaurant. Finally, arrival to a remote area of the National Reserve of Lake Titicaca, and explore UROS Ccapi, these are considered as the last authentic floating islands. Return to hotel.

This morning, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to the bus station for your journey from Puno to Cusco. The spectacular journey from Puno to Cusco takes you across the Altiplano and you will travel accompanied by an English-speaking guide. The drive takes you through sleepy Andean villages and past spectacular snow-capped mountains, sheer cliffs and rampaging rivers. Stops along the way include the atmospheric towns of Pucara and Andahuaylillas and the pre-Inca ruin of Raqchi. Lunch is included and you will arrive in the famous city of Cusco in the early evening.

Approximate duration of drive: 10 hours.

On arrival into Cusco, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Cusco, set at an altitude of 3,400 meters in the Peruvian Andes, was once the capital of the Inca Empire. It is known for its Spanish colonial architecture and Incan remains. Narrow, cobble-stoned streets lined by Inca walls stretch out from the main plaza in every direction. Many of the colonial buildings were built on top of Incan foundations and the stonework is unparalleled in its precision and beauty.

Today we will explore the city’s fascinating history, from the Inca times to colonial rule to the present day. We take a sightseeing tour through Cusco, the heart of the Inca Empire. We visit the fascinating Koricancha Temple of the Sun, the 12-Angled Rock, and the Cathedral, built on the ruins of an Inca Palace. From here we head to the archaeological remains located around the city, including the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo the giant rock, the ancient site of PucaPucara and finally the Water Temple of Tambomachay.

Today we will explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This fertile river valley was home to many important sites for the Incas, both strategic and religious. The first stop is the village of Pisac, with its famous artisanal market and Inca Ruins. There is free time to wander the colourful market stalls before heading uphill to the Pisac, Intihuatana, Q’allaqasa and Kinchiracay ruins. Enjoy a fine buffet lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Valley.

Continue your journey along the River Urubamba, to Ollantaytambo. The town, which is dominated by a giant Inca fortress, is perhaps the best surviving example of Inca town planning and was the scene of a rare Inca victory over the invading Spanish.

At the end of the tour, transfer to Ollantaytambo train station to board the train from Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes (town located at the bottom of Machu Picchu)

Early in the morning, make your way to the bus station to take the bus that will take you uphill to Machu Picchu. You will be astonished at your first view of Machu Picchu, a stunning display of ancient architecture with incredible surroundings. Enjoy a guided tour of the ruins and monuments such as the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the Cemeteries. Tour includes a guided group tour and a return bus from Aguas Calientes village.

After exploring, make your way to the town and to the station to take the train back to Cusco. On arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Free day Cusco. We recommend you visit the Koricancha (the famous Temple of Gold), visit the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales (Traditional Textiles) and the museum created by world renowned indigenous Quechua weaver, Nilda Callañuapa. This is the perfect place to start your journey in the world of Andean textiles. Also, you can participate on a 2-hour chocolate workshop at the Choco museum, where you will see the chocolate making process made from cacao bean to a chocolate bar.

Today enjoy breakfast with the wildlife in the Amazon as we explore amongst natures early risers. After lunch, skim the Samiria River where an abundance of wildlife hides in the deep rainforest such as blue and yellow macaws, scarlet macaws, toucans, umbrella birds, monkeys, and river others, capybaras and more.

After breakfast, start cruising through the creeks of Yanayaquillo, one of the best and most preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Later, start cruising through the Yanayacu River, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. Your guide will use his expert eye to pinpoint all the biodiversity of this region. Have the chance to enjoy swimming in the jungle river along with the famous pink dolphins!

The walk at Fundo Casual jungle trail will take you deep into the rainforest on “Terra Firma” (non-flooded forest) where your guide will point out the dynamic creatures and vegetation of the Amazon. Be sure to keep an attentive eye open for spotting surprises!

In the afternoon, we take off to Nauta Cañón Creek where you will have the chance to do some fishing for the famous piranha, a delightful and challenging experience you won’t forget! As night approaches, your guide will take you on a night safari in search of caiman alligators and night birds.

Visit to Piraña Cañón Creek, this lovely creek which leads to a lagoon is an ideal place to spend the morning in search of birds and playful monkeys. As your naturalist guide spots various creatures for you, also try to pinpoint some yourself now that you’ve been in the jungle for a few days and have trained your eye a bit!

Next, we will visit the community of San Francisco will include a short skiff ride and jungle walk to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations. Here we will visit a market featuring amazing arts and crafts from the local women.

This afternoon we venture to find the giant Amazonian water lily Victoria Regia. This beautiful aquatic plant grows in small lagoons known as cochas. Hike a trail with excellent bird watching, and learn about caciques and oropendolas. At the junction of the El Dorado River, look for dolphins and see abundant birdlife. Sharp eyes may find an iguana lazing in the sun and sloths hanging in the upper canopy. A watch is also kept for squirrel monkeys.

We recommend getting up early this morning appreciate one of the most important zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. Never does nature seem more bountiful than in the tropics, and early rising is always rewarding since wildlife is most abundant and active with the rising of the sun.

The exploration at Clavero Lake on board of our aluminum skiff, you will have the chance to get deep into the rainforest and its fantastic diversity of flora and fauna.

Next, we will venture along the Yarapa River, where you can explore the tributary and listen closely for the sounds from within the mysterious jungle.

With heavy hearts, the staff will wish you farewell as you begin your departure. Transfer back form Nauta Port to the City of Iquitos. On our way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list.

Our staff will be on hand to help you with your luggage and check in at the airport in Iquitos. The return flight will take you directly to the city of Lima, the capital of Peru. On arrival to Lima, make your way to the airport’s hotel to spend the night.
