The modern 24-passenger M/V Desafio is a newly renovated river vessel offering a fascinating cruise on the Amazon and Negro rivers. It displays wooden finishing and elegant decoration. The vessel is 109 feet long, fully air-conditioned and offers many of the same amenities found on larger ships. There is a nicely appointed restaurant and bar. Large sundeck with outdoor bar.

Explore the Amazon Rainforest both by canoe and on foot in the company of naturalist guides. This is truly one of the most fascinating wildlife destinations in the world. The cruises begin and end in Manaus, Brazil.

Small enough for everyone to be on a first-name basis by the end of the first hours, our passengers feel at home in the heart of the Amazon. And our specialized multilingual hosts will be glad to tell the travelers every single detailed of wild life, flora and the Amazon way of living.

The cruises depart from Manaus, capital of the State of Amazonas, a city in the jungle that prospered during the rubber boom last century . There is a choice of  four days cruises – one visits Jau national park and the other sails up the negro river, both of which include the “Meeting of the Waters”, where the Rio Negro and the Amazon River converge. For many miles the different colored waters don’t mix! The cruises also include small boat excursions into the jungle with specialized guides who will explain the local flora and fauna. Piranha fishing and visits to native’s communities along the river are also included.

Depart from the pier in Manaus to board the M/V Desafio at 14:00h, your floating hotel for the next three nights. Once on board, the multilingual naturalist guide will host a “welcome to the Amazon” briefing highlighting the broad spectrum of life in this unique region. The guide will assist in the identification of the flora/fauna, provide a historical framework and enrich your ecological understanding of this unusual destination and of the natural world. Start sailing bound “Tres Bocas”, located in the archipelago of Anavilhanas, the largest river archipelago in the world, with its lakes, islands, creeks and flooded forests. Dinner on board. In the evening, guests will enjoy a pleasant walk in motorized canoes for local recognition, an opportunity to hear the sounds of the jungle.

At 05:30h, boat ride to admire the sunrise in the forest and the birds singing in their diversity. Return to the ship and breakfast. In motorized canoes, walk along the river to a site trails for a walk with purpose to observe the flora and fauna of the region. Return  to  the  ship.  Lunch  on  board  while  cruising  towards  the  indigenous  community  “Terra  Preta”,  whose  visit  is  an opportunity to meet the lifestyle and habits of the Indigenous. Return on board and navigation towards Jaraqui’ village. By motorized canoes, after a pleasant river expedition, stop in land for an interesting jungle trekking to explore the fauna and flora. Return on board. Dinner on board.

Breakfast on board and sail to a local village named ‘Acajatuba’. On the way, stop at the floating station ‘Recanto dos Botos’ to interact with the pink dolphins, and feed the famous fish ‘Pirarucu’, known as the cod of the Amazon. Lunch on board. Departure and navigate along the Negro River towards the borders of the Solimões until reach the “meeting of waters”, where the Negro and Solimoes rivers meet to form the great Amazon River. The cruise continues to ‘Janauari’ Lake for another exciting experience, fishing the piranha, the dreaded Amazonian fish. Dinner on board. After dinner, canoe ride along the streams in search of caimans and other nocturnal animals with flashlights. Return aboard. Overnight.

After another tropical breakfast, departure to see the giants and beautiful Amazonian water lilies, another opportunity to explore the Negro River. Return aboard starting the return trip to Manaus arriving at 11:00h in the city.
